About Hearthnook
Hearthnook is an independent product-review publication. We test before we recommend, we never accept paid placements, and we tell you when something isn’t worth your money.
Our promise
Every recommendation on this site has been hands-on tested by a member of our editorial team — not by a marketing intern, not by an AI script, not by a list scraped from someone else’s review.
How we test
- Research. We start with reader questions, expert input, and the top 30 best-sellers in the category.
- Buy. We purchase every product anonymously at retail. No PR samples, no “rentals,” no review units with strings attached.
- Test. A minimum two-week real-world test, plus controlled bench tests where applicable (sound measurements, battery rundowns, ice retention, etc.).
- Compare. Every winner is benchmarked against the previous category winner so we never recommend a downgrade.
- Re-test. Twice a year, we revisit our top picks to make sure they’re still the best in their category.
How we make money
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we earn a small commission. That commission never changes our recommendations — every editor who touches a review signs an internal pledge to that effect, and we publish products with no affiliate program when they’re the right answer.
Read more about how this works in our affiliate disclosure.
